ESSENTIAL OILSNot just a hype product.
When you hear the words “essential oils” you may automatically imagine yourself at a spa day, getting a relaxing message or indulging in a facial or pedicure. But did you know that pure essential oils can be helpful for kids with learning and/or behavioral challenges? Essential oils are extracted from different parts of a plant (leaves, flowers, stems, bark, etc.) and have been proven to provide many psychological and physical benefits. This is only true however, when PURE and unadulterated essential oils are used. Fragrances, perfumes, or oils that have synthetic ingredients added to it, do not provide much benefit at all (beyond a possible headache!)
Throughout the ages essential oils have been used for medicinal purposes by people all over the world. Besides for the benefits that I have witnessed using essential oils with challenging kids for issues such as meltdowns, impulsivity, help with transition periods, sleep, focus and concentration, etc. I have also used them successfully for everyday type ailments such as headaches, stomachaches, common cold symptoms, rashes – and even in place of antibiotics!
Over the past few years, more and more testimonials from parents are coming out talking about the benefits of essential oils for kids with learning and behavioral challenges. I have been using them with my children for almost 5 years now, and I honestly don’t know how I lived my life without them ever!
A word of caution though: Essential oils are not regulated at this time. That means that basically anyone can market their oils as pure and unadulterated, but it may not be true necessarily (and therefore will not provide much therapeutic benefit to you or your family).
